There's loads of it around!

There's a whole lot of live music around the Stoke, Newcastle and the surrounding area. Pubs all over the place are putting on free gigs - bands, soloists, open mike nights and jam sessions, some more than once a week. Here you'll find a gallery of photos of just some of that have happened in pubs, clubs and other venues around the area. Get out there and enjoy!

The latest photos posted are of the open mic night at the Old Bulls Head on 11th February and StringFing playing at the Coachmakers on 3rd of February. My attempts to get photos of The Pluckers was a write-off: sorry Tony and Andy, let me know when you're next on and I'll try again. If anyone wants to sponsor the site by buying me a better camera (something like a Nikon D90 would be fine) feel free to do so!

The Coachmakers Arms is under threat of demolition

In many people's opinion Birch Terrace (a Victorian gem) and The Coachmakers (one of the areas best pubs) should be incorporated into the redevelopment of the city centre, not flattened to make way for it.

Stoke City Council have approved plans that would result in the demolition, but there's a petition on the Number10.gov.uk website to ask Gordon Brown to ensure that the plans are called in by the Secretary of State so that local wishes may be respected over the decision of the council. It could be a vote winner . . . couldn't it?
